YOGA IN YOUR SCHOOL

Take a Yoga Break!

OUR VISION

Yoga in Your School presents a series of breathing techniques and simple movement exercises that teachers may easily insert into their daily classroom schedule. All the “Yoga breaks” are less than three minutes so that teachers may present them regularly or as needed, when attention or energy begins to wane. These short exercise segments may also be combined creatively to create longer sequences for P.E. classes, playgrounds, athletics, recreation centers, camps, and dance schools.

The movement exercises are designed to develop skills of listening, concentration and memory, improve motor skills and physical fitness, develop strength, flexibility and balance as they enhance relationships and inspire a joyful effective learning process. The breathing exercises are designed to expand lung capacity and increase endurance as they energize and harmonize body and mind.

After thirty years of study, research and teaching in Yoga, Teressa Asencia has extracted the essential elements and adapted this knowledge and techniques into simple exercises that can easily be taught in the modern classroom to enhance the learning process.

Teressa has written and produced several Yoga videos and three Yoga series for television which were broadcast daily across Canada and also aired daily on several PBS stations in the U.S.A. Her award-winning dance documentary “A Dance the Gods Yearn to Witness”, depicts the rich history and tradition of Bharata Natyam.

"Thank you so much for the great yoga teacher training for children. I have learned so much over the last two weeks. Not only have I learned to teach children the beautiful art of yoga, but I have also learned to be a better yoga teacher. I came to Pondicherry to be trained, yet I feel I am coming away with something even more valuable: grace, peace, and santosha. Thank you for teaching many life lessons as well as helping me let go of some past hurt that I came to India to heal. I never expected to be going home as light and free as I am. So, thank you for not only being a great yoga teacher, but also a great friend. I wish nothing but grace, beauty, peace, and success for you." Review by Rebecca from United States

FIVE ELEMENTS CERTIFIED TRAINING

According to the ancient texts on Yoga, every part of creation is composed of the Five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. Each of these Elements affects the functioning and harmony of our body and mind. This Training teaches Five Creative Yoga Stories and Magic Carpet Relaxations based on each of the Five Elements. The partner poses, group poses and traditional Yoga poses, breathing exercises and chants integrated into each story create the experience of each element. Harmonizing our body and mind with a Five Element Ancient Sound Meditation, we share a glimpse of the unity inherent in all creation..

Five Elements Certified Training gives Yoga Alliance Members 30 hours Credit for Continuing Education (YAACEP)

"Deep Yoga Journey"

"I had a joy filled time learning from Teressa. She's a real yogi with great wisdom and compassion. She helped bring to life the 5 Elements Yoga teaching stories for children. It was so much fun! I feel well equipped to teach these yoga stories in my Year 2 classroom. The stories and yoga poses gently weave ancient yogic practices into them. I can see how my students will benefit from them by cultivating more resilience and peace into their lives. I am so very grateful to Teressa for these sacred teachings. She is a master teacher. I so look forward to sharing these yoga stories with my students."

YOGA FOR TWO WORKSHOP

Go beyond daily roles and connect with your loved ones on a deeper level! Enhance your physical and mental well-being as you learn a series of Playful Partner Poses that you may take home and practice together.

Yoga for Two allows you to use support and counterbalance to go deeper into the poses than possible when practicing traditional Yoga poses alone. Supported poses are emotionally nourishing and have a powerful psychological effect. Take these rejuvenating poses home to practice together and enjoy toning the body with minimum effort as you cultivate a feeling of contentment!

"We had an amazing session with Teressa and her friend in Pondicherry. She gave a two-day course to me and the two girls (nine and 13 years old). Her material was well prepared and extremely well suited for a session with children. She gave the session with true dedication and made it fun while stretching us in our learning at the same time. Teressa herself is a very enjoyable person and the hours with her were therefore really fun. I have tried several yoga courses for children and find Teressa's sessions particularly good for families with children. Even young children would enjoy this quite a lot."

PLAYFUL FAMILY YOGA WORKSHOP

Let your children teach you how to play Yoga!

The stress of modern life and the competitive climate in business and education deplete the inner resources of people of all ages. The increasing pace of daily life has created a compelling need for simple Yoga techniques tailored to compliment our current lifestyle. The playful partner poses presented in this class and book will improve health and create a beautiful physique as they enhance relationship and inspire deeper intimacy. This workshop will inspire participants to go beyond their daily roles and connect with their loved ones on a deeper level.

"The family yoga program that Teressa designed was just the perfect thing for us and our two girls (ages nine and six years). Teressa's easy, engaging, and fun for kids program stayed with us even after the week is over and we are now striving to keep it up back amidst the routine life of schools and work. The story telling approach to yoga was just wonderfully creative and the kids still remember the tales of the five elements. For us, the parents, the chance to learn how to further bond with our kids through yoga is a lifelong learning we will carry with us. Thanks to Teressa and her wonderful trainee Mitu. The kids talk about Pondicherry as the best holiday they have had."
